Collections

AI agent for debt collection on WhatsApp

Reminds every customer of their overdue invoice, sends the payment link and treats the payment as received only once the gateway confirms it.

What does an AI agent for collections do?

An AI agent for collections reviews your receivables, writes to every customer with an overdue balance and stays with them until they pay. In Meteor, a scheduled task lists the overdue invoices in Alegra or Siigo, matches each one with the customer’s WhatsApp contact and schedules the reminder with a Meta-approved template, which is the only permitted way to write first to someone who has not chatted in more than 24 hours. When the customer replies, the Met clears up the balance with the invoice open, sends the Wompi payment link (PSE, Nequi or card) or the Mercado Pago one, and treats the payment as received only when the gateway reports it approved. Your team records the payment against the invoice from the web platform: the accounting connector refuses that step to a channel Met. It makes no phone calls and does not decide who to stop selling to.

What it does
Reviews overdue receivables in Alegra or Siigo, writes to each customer on WhatsApp with an approved template, sends the Wompi or Mercado Pago payment link and confirms the payment with the gateway.
Systems it works on

In total, 69 real tools across those connectors, counted from the public capability registry. It uses the ones from the systems you connect.

What triggers it
The scheduled task that reviews overdue receivables, or a customer replying to the reminder.
AI level

What it does not do
  • It does not record the payment against the invoice from the chat: the accounting connector refuses that step when a channel Met asks for it, and your team does it from the web platform.
  • It makes no phone calls: it collects on WhatsApp, and more than 24 hours after the customer’s last message it only writes with a Meta-approved template.
  • It does not decide who to stop selling to or when an account goes to legal collection, and it reports nobody to credit bureaus: a person decides that.
  • It does not reconcile bank statements: the detailed match with the bank is still accounting work.
The problem

Do your receivables depend on someone remembering to chase them?

Checking who owes, finding their number, writing to each one and writing again the following week gets left for when there is time. And when the customer says they already paid, somebody has to check before believing it.

The solution

Collect every day, with the payment confirmed

The collections Met turns overdue receivables into conversations: it writes with the approved template, clears up the balance, sends the payment link and leaves your team the case ready to record.

Before and after

From the same old bottlenecks to a real advantage

Nobody reviews receivables until the end of the month.

A scheduled task lists the overdue invoices at the hour you set, without anyone opening the accounting system.

The collection message is the same for everyone, or never goes out.

The task splits by age: you do not write the same way to someone three days late as to someone three months late.

After 24 hours, WhatsApp will not let you write to the customer.

The reminder goes out with a Meta-approved template carrying the invoice number, the balance and the due date.

The customer wants to pay and has no way to do it right there.

It sends the Wompi link for PSE, Nequi or card, or the Mercado Pago one, in the same conversation.

“I already paid” is not a confirmation.

With Wompi or Mercado Pago the payment counts once the gateway reports it approved; with a bank transfer, the receipt is noted so your team can verify it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Collections

In Meteor, the collections Met does it (if your receivables are in Alegra, Legra, the team’s accountant, can carry that work). A scheduled task lists your overdue invoices in Alegra or Siigo, matches them with each customer’s phone number and schedules the WhatsApp reminder with a Meta-approved template. When the customer replies, the Met clears up the balance, sends the Wompi or Mercado Pago payment link and confirms the payment with the gateway. What it does not do: record the payment in your books from the chat, make phone calls or decide who to stop selling to.

Not from the chat, and it is not a setting you can switch on. The Alegra connector refuses to record payments and the Siigo connector refuses the cash receipt when a channel Met asks for them. The Met leaves the case ready (which invoice, how much and with what receipt) and someone on the team records the payment from the web platform, on the same connection.

If they paid with the Wompi or Mercado Pago link, the Met checks the transaction with the gateway (on Wompi, with the transaction number the customer sees when paying) and only treats it as paid once the gateway reports it approved; a screenshot does not count. If they paid by bank transfer, the Met opens the invoice to confirm the balance, notes the receipt in the conversation and your team verifies it against the bank.

Law 2300 of 2023 says that collectors may only contact consumers through the channels the consumer authorizes (article 2) and within set hours: Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with no contact on Sundays or public holidays, and not through several channels in the same week or more than once on the same day (article 3). In Meteor you decide when the collection task runs, which channel it uses and how often; fitting that to the law is your business’s decision, and worth reviewing with your legal advisor. Source: the text of the law at secretariasenado.gov.co, checked on October 28, 2026.

Yes, and it is the sensible way to start. The invoice listing filters by customer and by date range, so the task can begin with the oldest receivables or with one group of customers. And if you would rather have a person approve each message before it goes out, the task leaves the list ready with the proposed text for review.

Every implementation includes discovery, setup and tuning during the ramp-up. After that, each Met’s quality is measured by sampling: an automated judge reviews a sample of its conversations and scores the support it gave, and the activity tab shows what each Met did, with which tool and at what cost. If something is not working the way you expected, we review it with you using that data and adjust until it is running.
