Charge by PSE and Nequi inside the conversation, with Wompi
PSE and Nequi payments with Wompi inside the chat: an AI agent sends the payment link, lists the banks under PSE and confirms when the money landed.
How do I charge by PSE or Nequi from WhatsApp without pulling the customer out of the chat?
When the customer says yes, the Met confirms the amount, creates a Wompi payment link in pesos and sends it in the same chat. The customer then chooses PSE, Nequi, Bancolombia, card or a banking agent, and if they ask whether their bank is listed, the PSE bank list is requested from Wompi right then instead of recited from memory. Nothing ships until the transaction shows as approved: creating the link charged nothing yet, and a screenshot is not a status. If nobody pays, the reminder goes out with an approved template. This is the only connector in the catalog that charges through Colombian local payment methods.
Where it applies: Colombia. Wompi is a Colombian gateway and charges only in pesos. PSE, Nequi, Bancolombia and banking agents are local market methods.
What starts it
When the customer writes
It starts when the customer accepts the purchase or asks how to pay. The Met on the channel creates the charge inside the conversation; the only scheduled piece, if any, is the reminder for whoever got the link and never opened it.
Nothing to set up. The Met assigned to that channel picks up the conversation and runs the procedure inside it.
Who runs it
Met for sales and payment
Sales team
It is not a Met with a seeded name: it is the same one already closing the sale on your WhatsApp. Collecting is the last stretch of that conversation, and sending the customer to another app to pay is where half of chat sales fall apart.

5 steps · 10 tools
The procedure, step by step
Each step shows the tool that runs. They belong to the real connector: if one of them stopped existing, this page would not build.
- 1
Say what they can pay with, before sending anything
The enabled methods are your merchant's, not the ones on Wompi's brochure: the query returns which are active and which environment the loaded keys are running in. And when the question is whether their bank is on PSE, the list is requested right then, because Wompi changes it on its own. A bank recited from memory is the kind of mistake you only discover with the customer already at the checkout.
- 2
Build the link with the exact amount, in pesos
The amount goes in whole pesos and the connector handles the conversion to cents. This is the most expensive mistake in chat collections: sending the amount in cents charges a hundred times too much, and this connector does not refund. So the Met confirms the figure with the person before creating the link, and leaves the note with the concept and the reference for later reconciliation.
- 3
Do not treat the payment as done until you see it approved
Creating the link moved nothing: it is a URL. The money arrives when the customer pays, and the only way to know that is querying the transaction by its identifier. Pending is not paid, and declined is not either. Only once the status reads approved does the Met move the contact along the pipeline and confirm the dispatch.
- 4
Ask for the transaction number plainly
Wompi does not allow searching a payment by your own reference: it answers only by the transaction identifier, which the customer keeps on the confirmation screen and which travels in the return URL. If the customer says they paid and does not have it, the Met asks for it in those words instead of guessing, and records the contact and the detail so the next lookup does not start from scratch.
- 5
Chase the link nobody opened
A link sent and unpaid is a half closed sale, and most of them come back with a single reminder. The Met schedules it with the concept and the amount inside; past 24 hours of silence it goes out as a Meta approved template, which is the only permitted path. It also tags whoever did pay, so the CRM can later tell buyers apart from people who only asked.
Before you start
What you need ready
The Met solves none of these for you. If one is missing, the automation stops there.
-
Your Wompi merchant public key and private key
At comercios.wompi.co, under Developers and then API keys. The private one creates the links and the public one queries transactions: both have to be from the same environment, because mixing test with production returns an error that never says why.
-
A return URL on your own site
Any page of yours the customer lands on after paying, a thank you page for instance. It matters more than it looks: the transaction identifier travels in that URL, and it is the only piece of data that lets you verify the charge afterwards.
-
A WhatsApp template approved for the reminder
You register it in the WhatsApp Business manager and Meta reviews it. You only need it if you are going to chase unpaid links beyond the 24 hour window.
The limits
What this automation does NOT solve
Better said here than discovered halfway through the rollout.
-
It does not refund or void. Returning money already charged happens in the Wompi panel, by a person: the connector does not expose that tool and no configuration enables it.
-
It does not charge every month. Each charge is a new, single use link. Recurring billing does exist in Wompi, but this connector deliberately leaves it out, because it moves money with nobody involved.
-
It does not search payments by your reference, and it does not list the day's charges. Wompi answers only by transaction identifier; the reference is for reconciling on your side, not for querying on theirs.
-
It does not charge in dollars or any other currency. Wompi is Colombian and operates only in Colombian pesos, with that market's payment methods.
-
It does not process card data. The customer types it inside the Wompi checkout. If somebody writes it in the chat, the Met neither repeats nor stores it, and points them where it really goes.
FAQ
Questions about this automation
No. They open the link and choose in the Wompi checkout between PSE, Nequi, Bancolombia, card or a banking agent. The whole conversation, before and after, stays in the chat where they already were.
The payment methods. Mercado Pago does not process PSE or Nequi, which is how most people pay in Colombia, and Wompi charges only in Colombian pesos. If you sell abroad, the Mercado Pago automation is the other one; if you collect inside the country, this is the right one.
Yes. With test keys the link moves no real money, and the response says so in the environment it returns. The one rule is telling whoever receives that link that it is a test: somebody trying to pay it for real is a lost sale.
You create a new one, because every link is single use. But first it is worth checking whether the previous one was already paid, if you have the transaction identifier: sending a new link to somebody who already paid ends in a double charge.
