How do I charge on WhatsApp with Tilopay and confirm the customer paid?

With the Tilopay ready connector, your Met works on your merchant account in Tilopay, the Costa Rican payment gateway. It creates a charge and returns the short link that opens the secure payment form, generates that link's QR, checks whether a customer already paid and opens a transaction's detail. It also checks the catalog, your micro store's orders, receipts, the enabled payment methods, such as SINPE Móvil, and the date of the next deposit. Creating payment links starts switched on. Capturing, refunding or reversing a transaction, charging a saved card and transferring from the bank account start switched off.

Where it applies: Costa Rica. Tilopay is a Costa Rican payment gateway; SINPE Móvil and IBAN transfers are Costa Rican payment methods.

Charge with a link in the same conversation

Once the customer confirms what they want, the Met finds the product in the catalog or creates a charge for the agreed amount and shares the Tilopay short link, which opens the secure payment form.

Confirm the payment came in

If the customer says they already paid, the Met looks for the charge in Tilopay and opens the transaction, so it answers with the real status and can forward the receipt.

Flag which orders are still to be delivered

The Met lists micro store orders that are paid and not delivered, and marks them as delivered when your team tells it on WhatsApp.

Answer when the deposit arrives

The Met checks Tilopay's official data on the next deposit date and the pending balance by currency, and answers you on WhatsApp.

The limits

What the Tilopay integration does NOT do

We would rather say it here than have you find out during rollout.

It does not move money on its own: capturing, refunding or reversing a transaction, charging a saved card and transferring from the bank account start switched off.
It does not ask for confirmation in the chat before creating a charge or marking an order. The admin chooses in Connections which actions stay on; creating payment links starts switched on.
It does not see the banking tools if Tilopay has not enabled the banking API for your merchant: those only appear on request.
It does not refund more than was charged: Tilopay does not let the amount exceed the original sale.
It does not take the payment inside WhatsApp: the customer pays in the secure Tilopay form the link opens.

A merchant account in Tilopay

The merchant, its payment methods and its catalog are set up in Tilopay. The connector works with whatever that account has enabled.

Connect it in Met

In Met, open Connections → Tilopay → Connect. A Tilopay window opens so you can sign in and authorize Met. Then you choose which actions stay on.

Questions about Tilopay and Meteor

Yes, creating charges starts switched on. The Met creates the charge for the agreed amount and shares the Tilopay short link in the conversation.

Only if the admin turns on the action that modifies transactions, because it starts switched off. Even when it is on, the amount cannot exceed the original sale.

It depends on what your merchant has enabled in Tilopay. The Met can check the checkout's payment methods and tell you whether SINPE Móvil is active.

You do, with your own Tilopay account and its fees. Meteor does not resell Tilopay: the connector uses your company's merchant account.
