Pictory and Meteor AI agents
Connect Pictory to a Met: turn a text or an article into a video, review the preview, adjust it and render it with Pictory's official MCP server.
How does Pictory connect to Meteor?
With the Pictory ready-made connector, your Met uses Pictory's official MCP server with your account, authorized once with OAuth. From a brief, a script or an article URL, it builds the storyboard and returns a preview in 2 to 5 minutes; it adjusts text, colors, clips or music on that same preview and renders it once you approve, in 5 to 15 minutes. It searches clips and music in Pictory's library, lists your voices, brand kits and subtitle styles, and tells you how much of your plan is left. You need a Pictory API subscription: the standard plan alone is not enough.
What it automates
What a Meteor Met does with Pictory
A promotion video from a text
You give the Met the text of a promotion. The Met builds the preview with your brand kit and a voice from your account, and sends you the link so you can review it before rendering.
Turn a blog article into a video
With an article URL, the Met asks Pictory to read it and turn it into a video, in the shape you need for the network where you will post it.
Fix things without starting over
If something in the preview does not work for you, such as a large title or a clip, the Met changes it on the same preview and the link shows the change; editing it costs nothing.
Check the balance before a long video
Before rendering, the Met checks how many video and voice minutes and how many AI Credits you have left, so you know whether it is enough.
14 tools
Everything your Met can ask Pictory for
Each one is a real action in the connector. You can switch off the ones you would rather it never used.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
create_video_from_text | Creates the video and starts rendering right away; returns a job ID and takes 5 to 15 minutes. |
preview_video_from_text | Builds the storyboard without rendering so the scenes can be reviewed; takes 2 to 5 minutes and returns a preview URL. |
render_preview | Renders a preview you have seen and approved, with everything it had. |
get_job_status | Checks a running job; when done it returns the video URL, thumbnail, subtitles and duration. |
list_preview_elements | Reads a finished preview as a list of its parts, with their scene, content and position, and any overlapping pairs. |
update_preview_elements | Changes those parts on the same preview, such as text, size, color, position, a clip or the music. |
estimate_layout | Predicts where each element of a designed scene will land and flags overlaps before the preview is built. |
search_media | Searches clips or stills in Pictory's stock library, which costs nothing. |
search_music | Finds a background track by mood, purpose, genre, instrument, keyword and duration. |
list_ai_models | Lists the models that can generate a scene's media, cheapest first, with the AI Credits for each clip or image. |
list_voices | Lists the premium narration voices on your account, filterable by language, gender or name. |
list_video_brands | Lists your brand kits by name; applying one carries its logo, colors and fonts into the video. |
list_text_styles | Lists your subtitle styles by name. |
get_quota | Reports usage against your plan in video minutes, transcription minutes, premium voice minutes and AI Credits. |
The limits
What the Pictory integration does NOT do
We would rather say it here than have you find out during rollout.
-
It does not work without a Pictory API subscription: Pictory says the standard plan alone is not enough and that without it the connection fails at sign in.
-
It does not post the video to your social networks. It gives you the MP4 and its links; uploading it to Instagram, TikTok or YouTube is another step.
-
Each render is not free: video and premium voice minutes, and the AI Credits for AI generated media, come out of your subscription. Stock clips and music cost nothing.
-
It does not ask for confirmation in the chat before creating or rendering a video. The admin decides in Connections which actions stay on.
-
It does not save the video as an editable project unless you ask: Pictory warns that without it the video is not kept in your account and every change needs a new render.
Before you start
What you need to connect Pictory
- 1
A Pictory account with an API subscription
The account you sign in with at app.pictory.ai needs an active Pictory API subscription. It pays for the minutes and AI Credits of each video.
- 2
Connect it in Met
In Met, open Connections → Pictory → Connect and sign in with your Pictory account. No API key is needed. Then you choose which actions stay on.
