Pennylane and Meteor AI agents
Connect Pennylane to a Met: query sales and purchase invoices, payments, ledger entries, the trial balance and VAT, with the official read-only MCP.
How does Pennylane connect to Meteor?
With the Pennylane ready-made connector, your Met reads your company's books, or your firm's client dossiers, with the account the admin authorizes. It queries customers, sales invoices with their lines, VAT and payments, suppliers and purchase invoices, the chart of accounts, ledger entries, bank transactions and their reconciliation, the trial balance, the income statement, the balance sheet and VAT and tax returns. It is the official Pennylane server and it is read-only: it does not create or edit anything, does not file returns and does not move money.
Where it applies: Francia. Pennylane works with French accounting: the data comes with SIREN and SIRET, VAT regimes, the liasse fiscale and IS. The connector reads that data as it is in Pennylane.
What it automates
What a Meteor Met does with Pennylane
Tell a customer how much they owe
When a customer asks about their balance, the Met finds them in Pennylane, lists their sales invoices and checks each one's collection status to answer what is outstanding and since when.
See which purchase invoices are still unpaid
The Met lists the quarter's supplier invoices with their payment status and tells you which ones are still unpaid and for how much.
Review bank reconciliation
The Met lists the month's bank transactions that are still unreconciled, with their amount and label, so the accounting team can close them.
Prepare the monthly summary
The Met brings the period's income statement and compares it with the same period last year using the trial balance, and points out the accounts that moved the most.
31 tools

Each one is a real action in the connector. You can switch off the ones you would rather it never used.

The limits
What the Pennylane integration does NOT do
We would rather say it here than have you find out during rollout.
-
It does not write anything in Pennylane: it does not create or edit invoices, record payments, post entries or reconcile. Pennylane says writing will come in a future version.
-
It does not file returns or send documents: it can tell you when VAT is due and how much is owed, but it does not file it for you.
-
It does not move money: no transfers and no payment execution.
-
It sees no more than you allow: each data type has its own read permission, and the Met only reaches the ones you approve when connecting, within what your user already sees in Pennylane.
-
It does not bring everything at once: lists come paginated in pages of 100 records, so for long periods the Met goes through several pages.
-
It does not work with the Free, Starter or Basique company plans: Pennylane requires Essentiel or higher.
Before you start
What you need to connect Pennylane
- 1
A Pennylane account on a compatible plan
Companies need the Essentiel plan or higher; accounting firms get the MCP at no extra cost. Connect with a user who can see the data the Met will query.
- 2
Connect it in Met
In Met, open Connections → Pennylane → Connect. A Pennylane window opens so you can sign in, choose the company or the firm and approve the read permissions.
Frequently asked questions
Questions about Pennylane and Meteor
No. The Pennylane MCP is read-only for now: it searches, lists and brings data, but it does not create, edit or delete. For writes, Pennylane points to its API.
Yes. With a firm connection, the Met lists the portfolio's dossiers and queries each company by naming it, because firm tools require the company identifier.
The Met looks up the source in Pennylane's full catalog and reads that data, for example the fixed asset depreciation schedule or a loan repayment schedule. It is still read-only.
You do, with your own Pennylane plan. Meteor does not resell Pennylane: the connector uses your company's or your firm's account.
