How does Hootsuite Inbox connect to Meteor?

With the Hootsuite Inbox ready connector (now called Nest), your Met works in the Hootsuite inbox where messages and comments from your social networks land. It gives your Met 17 tools: it counts what is new and pending in each inbox, lists and reads conversations, reviews comments on what you published in the last 14 days and fetches your saved replies. It also leaves internal notes, tags with a topic, assigns the conversation to a person or a team and moves it to pending or resolved. It does not send replies: your team sends the message to the customer from Hootsuite.

Know what is new in the inbox

The Met counts how many new and pending conversations each inbox has and, if you ask for the detail, lists the new ones with the contact and a preview of their last message.

Route the conversations

The Met reads the conversation, checks who it can be assigned to and assigns it to the right person or team, with an internal note summarizing what the customer wants.

Classify and close

The Met tags the conversation with the right topic, for example complaint or order, and moves it to pending while someone works on it or to resolved once it is handled.

Review the comments on a post

The Met lists what you published in the last two weeks, opens the comments on a post and separates the ones your brand has not answered yet.

Prepare the reply with your template

The Met finds the right saved reply and hands you its text so your team sends it from Hootsuite.

The limits

What the Hootsuite Inbox integration does NOT do

We would rather say it here than have you find out during rollout.

It does not send messages or comments to the customer. Saved replies come back as text to paste in Hootsuite; a person sends it there.
It does not reopen a conversation as new: it only moves it to pending or to resolved.
It does not page through a conversation's history: it returns the latest 50 entries at most.
It does not see the networks your workspace excluded in its data sharing settings. In that case it continues with the others and does not invent what is missing.
It does not ask for confirmation in the chat before writing. The admin chooses in Connections which actions stay on; all 17 arrive switched on.
It does not create or schedule posts: this inbox is for conversations and comments.

A Hootsuite account with the inbox

Your business uses Hootsuite with its social networks connected to the inbox. The Met only sees what your Hootsuite user can see.

Connect it in Met

In Met, open Connections → Hootsuite Inbox → Connect. A Hootsuite window opens so you sign in and authorize Met; then you choose which actions stay on.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about Hootsuite Inbox and Meteor

No. The Hootsuite server does not send replies. The Met can fetch the text of a saved reply and leave a note, and your team sends the reply from Hootsuite.

Sometimes. In an inbox list it appears only if your organization has that feature turned on, and on comments it appears when the network provides it. It does not come when opening a conversation.

By default it returns 10 and it can ask for up to 100 per inbox. For a count it uses the inbox counter, which lists no rows.

No. None of the 17 tools deletes anything: they only write status, notes, topics and assignments.

You do, with your own Hootsuite plan. Meteor does not resell Hootsuite: the connector signs in with your user.
