How to connect Tiendanube to an AI assistant on WhatsApp
Tiendanube has an official MCP server. How to connect it to WhatsApp step by step, what the assistant can do and why it does not create orders.
How do I connect Tiendanube to an AI assistant on WhatsApp?
Tiendanube connects to an AI assistant through its official MCP server, which you authorize once with the store account. For that assistant to answer on WhatsApp you need a second connection: your line on the official WhatsApp Business API. In Meteor both are done from Connections, and you bring them together in an agent we call a Met by giving it the Tiendanube skill and assigning it to the line. The Met searches products, answers price and stock, checks orders and customers, and reports promotions, payment methods and shipping. If you turn it on, it also updates stock and price and creates coupons. It does not create orders or carts and it does not charge: the official server has no such tool, so the purchase ends in your store checkout.
Connecting a store to an AI assistant and putting it to answer on WhatsApp are two different jobs. Tiendanube solved the first with an official server. The second depends on your WhatsApp line, and it is the part most guides skip.
The two connections

The Tiendanube server is at https://admin-mcp.tiendanube.com/mcp and works with any MCP-compatible
client. On its own it does not answer a WhatsApp line: a desktop client lets you ask your store things, but
your customers cannot write to it.
Step by step in Meteor
- Open the connector. In Meteor go to Connections, Tiendanube, Connect. The server address is already filled in.
- Authorize the store. Tiendanube opens, you sign in with the store account and grant access. Meteor never asks for passwords in chat.
- Choose the actions. The workspace admin reviews the list. Delete actions start turned off. To start without risk, leave only the read ones on.
- Connect your WhatsApp line. With Meta’s embedded signup. If you do not have one yet, first read what the WhatsApp Business API is.
- Give the Met the Tiendanube skill and assign it to the line. Without the skill, the Met does not see the store’s tools. Tell it what the store sells, what tone it uses, when it hands off to a person and which detail must match before it discusses an order.
- Test with real questions. A misspelled product, a sold-out size, an order number and someone else’s order.
An honest note: we built this connector from Tiendanube’s official documentation and its server’s public metadata, without a test store of our own. That is why step six is not optional. If your first connection fails, open a ticket with Meteor support; response time depends on your plan.

What it costs
- Tiendanube: your usual plan.
- Meta: each message by the country of the receiving number. In Colombia, since October 1, 2026, US$0.0008 per reply after the 1,000 free each month and US$0.0125 per marketing template. Other countries are in what the WhatsApp Business API costs.
- Meteor: the plan, from US$99 a month with US$10 of Energy included, and the Energy the replies consume. Every new account starts with a 7-day trial and US$5 of Energy, no card needed. The plans are on Pricing.
The limits

It does not compare WhatsApp apps from the Tiendanube app store. It only covers the official MCP server and how a Met uses it.

It does not state Tiendanube usage limits or plan requirements. Its MCP documentation does not publish them, so ask Tiendanube if your volume is high.

Questions on this topic
Not with this connector. It can recommend, give price and stock, offer a coupon and send the product link, but the order is created when the customer buys in your store checkout.
Yes, the server lists and filters orders and customers. But that data is private and the connector does not check who is asking: write in the Met's instructions which detail must match before it answers, and test it. It cannot change an order status, mark it as paid or shipped, or upload a shipping label.
It says which shipping methods the store has. Exact cost and time need a cart, and the server does not create carts, so the final amount appears when buying.
Deleting products, categories, coupons and promotions starts turned off, and only the admin turns those on. But the actions you leave on do not ask for confirmation in chat, so turn on only the ones you want it to use.
Nuvemshop has its own server at a different address, and Meteor's ready connector points to Tiendanube's. For Nuvemshop you add it as a custom connector by pasting that address.
Each connection is tied to one store. If you have two, each one needs its own authorization.
You do, with your account and plan. Meteor does not resell Tiendanube or charge for calls to the server. What does consume Energy is the Met's reasoning and replies.
