You.com and Meteor AI agents
Connect You.com to a Met: search the web with fresh results, extract a page's content and check your balance, with the official MCP.
How does You.com connect to Meteor?
With the You.com ready-made connector, your Met searches the web and reads pages with the You.com account the admin authorizes. It runs searches with freshness filters, result counts and operators such as site: or filetype:, can exclude domains, and it extracts a page's full content to read it before answering. It also checks your account balance and helps you pick which You.com API to use. It is the official You.com server, and what searches consume runs on your You.com account.
What it automates
What a Meteor Met does with You.com
Answer with recent information
When a customer asks about something that changes often, such as opening hours or a published rule, the Met searches with recent results, reads the official page and answers citing where it got it from.
Read the page someone sends
If someone pastes a link in the chat, the Met extracts that page's content and answers with what it says, instead of asking them to copy it.
Search a single site
With the site: operator, the Met searches only within one domain, for example an agency's page or a supplier's, and leaves out the rest of the web.
Keep an eye on the balance
Before a large batch of searches, the Met checks your You.com account balance and warns you if it is running low.
4 tools
Everything your Met can ask You.com for
Each one is a real action in the connector. You can switch off the ones you would rather it never used.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
you_search | Searches the web with freshness, count and excluded domain filters, and operators such as site or lang. |
you_contents | Extracts the content of a web page from its URL. |
you_balance | Checks your You.com account balance. |
you_discover | Helps discover and pick which You.com API or tool to use for a task. |
The limits
What the You.com integration does NOT do
We would rather say it here than have you find out during rollout.
-
It does not run long research or finance queries with this preset: you-research and you-finance exist on the server, but they are not in this URL's default list.
-
It does not answer questions on its own: there is no answer tool. The Met searches, reads and writes the answer with what it found.
-
It does not get into private pages or store what it reads: each query brings the page at that moment.
-
It is not unlimited: searches and extraction consume balance from your You.com account at its price.
Before you start
What you need to connect You.com
- 1
A You.com account
Create or use your account at you.com/platform. The connector uses that account and its balance; there is no need to paste an API key.
- 2
Connect it in Met
In Met, open Connections → You.com → Connect. A You.com window opens so you can sign in and authorize Met. Then you choose which actions stay on.
Frequently asked questions
Questions about You.com and Meteor
Yes. Search accepts a freshness filter and operators such as site:, lang: or loc:, so the Met can narrow it by date, site, language or location.
Because this URL brings search, contents, balance and discovery by default. You.com leaves research and finance out of the default list.
It can: the Met shares the link of the page it read along with the answer, so the person can confirm it.
You do, with your own You.com account. Meteor does not resell You.com: the connector uses your company's account and its balance.
