Apify and Meteor AI agents

Connect Apify to a Met: find an Actor in the store, check its price, run it with a spending cap and read the results in the chat.

How does Apify connect to Meteor?

With the Apify ready connector, your Met uses the Actors in the Apify store to get data from the web with your Apify account. It has 9 tools: it searches Actors in the store, checks one's details with its input, output and price, runs it with a spending cap, checks the run if it did not finish, reads the results from the dataset or a record from storage and stops a run in progress. It also searches and reads the Apify documentation. Running an Actor and stopping it start off until the admin turns them on in Connections. Each Actor has its own price and Apify charges it to your account.

What it automates

What a Meteor Met does with Apify

Read competitors' reviews

You ask the Met on WhatsApp what a competitor's reviews say. The Met finds an Actor that extracts reviews and, if the admin turned on running Actors, runs it and sums up what comes up most.

Check the price before running an Actor

Before running, the Met pulls the Actor's details with its input and price, so you know what it needs and what it charges before spending.

Wait for a long run

If the Actor does not finish within the wait time, the Met checks the run later and reads the results from the dataset when they are ready.

Stop a run

If a run was launched with the wrong data and the admin turned that action on, the Met stops it before it keeps running.

9 tools

Everything your Met can ask Apify for

Each one is a real action in the connector. You can switch off the ones you would rather it never used.

Tool What it does
search_actors Searches for Actors in the Apify store, Apify Store.
fetch_actor_details Returns an Actor's details: its input and output schema, its README and its price.
call_actor Runs an Actor and waits up to 45 seconds, 30 by default, for it to finish. Run limits, such as the spending cap, go separately. It returns the status and the storage IDs, not the results. It starts off until the admin turns it on.
search_apify_docs Searches the Apify documentation.
fetch_apify_docs Returns the full content of an Apify documentation page by its URL.
get_actor_run Returns the details of an Actor run.
get_dataset_items Returns the items in a dataset, with filters and pagination. This is how a run's results are read.
get_key_value_store_record Returns the value of a key in a key value store.
abort_actor_run Stops an Actor run that is in progress. It starts off.

The limits

What the Apify integration does NOT do

We would rather say it here than have you find out during rollout.

Before you start

What you need to connect Apify

  1. 1

    An Apify account

An Apify account. Running Actors and reading storage or runs always needs authentication, and each Actor's price is charged to that account.

  2. 2

    Connect it in Met

In Met, open Connections → Apify → Connect. An Apify window opens so you sign in and authorize Met.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about Apify and Meteor

It depends on the Actor: each one has its own price and Apify charges it to your account. The Met shows it with the Actor's details before running it.

Yes. The run accepts a spending cap per run, maxTotalChargeUsd, along with other limits such as memory, timeout and number of items.

Because running an Actor returns the status and the storage IDs. The Met reads the results afterwards, from that run's dataset.

Not with this connection. Apify schedules are not included in the default endpoint Met connects to.

You do, with your Apify account. Met does not charge for the Actors your Met runs and Meteor does not resell the service.
