Databox and Meteor AI agents
Connect Databox to a Met: query metrics from your sources by date range and load new data into a dataset with the official MCP.
How does Databox connect to Meteor?
With the Databox ready connector, your Met works with the Databox workspace the admin authorizes. It lists your data sources and their metrics, loads a metric's values for a date range with dimension breakdowns, and replies with the number you asked for. It also creates datasets, loads records into them and checks when the last data arrived. Deleting a dataset or a data source starts turned off until the admin turns it on. The Databox server is in beta and usage runs on your Databox account.
What it automates
What a Meteor Met does with Databox
Answer a metric on WhatsApp
You ask the Met how many leads came in last month. The Met sets the date range, finds the metric in your sources and loads its values to reply with the number.
Compare periods with breakdowns
The Met loads the same metric for two ranges and with a dimension breakdown, such as channel or city, to show you what changed from one month to the next.
Upload data that has no connector
If a figure lives in another system, the Met can create a dataset and load the records into it, then check in the load history that they arrived.
14 tools
Everything your Met can ask Databox for
Each one is a real action in the connector. You can switch off the ones you would rather it never used.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
list_accounts | Lists the accounts in the organization the connection belongs to. |
list_data_sources | Lists the data sources in the organization. |
list_data_source_datasets | Lists the datasets inside a data source. |
list_merged_datasets | Lists the organization's merged datasets. |
list_metrics | Lists a data source's metrics with their key, name, description and dimensions. |
load_metric_data | Loads a metric's values for a date range, with dimension and period breakdowns. |
get_current_datetime | Returns the current date and time to resolve expressions like last month or yesterday. |
create_data_source | Creates a new data source to organize datasets in Databox. |
create_dataset | Creates a new dataset with a defined schema or one inferred from the data. |
ingest_data | Loads records into a Databox dataset and creates or updates it. |
get_dataset_ingestions | Shows a dataset's load history to know when the last data arrived. |
get_ingestion | Returns the details of a load, with its status and how many records it processed. |
delete_dataset | Deletes a Databox dataset. Starts turned off. |
delete_data_source | Deletes a data source with all its datasets. Starts turned off. |
The limits
What the Databox integration does NOT do
We would rather say it here than have you find out during rollout.
-
It does not delete unless you decide so. Deleting a dataset or a data source starts turned off, and deleting a source takes all its datasets with it.
-
It does not ask you for confirmation in the chat before loading data. The admin decides in Connections which write actions stay on.
-
It is not a finished version. Databox warns that its MCP server is in beta: some functions may be missing and there may be usage limits.
-
It does not design your dashboards. The tools in this listing query metrics and load data; building a dashboard is done in Databox.
-
It does not pay your Databox plan. Usage runs on your account; Meteor does not resell the service.
Before you start
What you need to connect Databox
- 1
A Databox workspace with your sources
The Databox account where your data sources are already connected. The Met sees what the user who authorizes the connection is allowed to see.
- 2
Connect it in Met
In Met, open Connections → Databox → Connect. A Databox window opens so you sign in and authorize Met.
- 3
Decide which actions stay on
The workspace admin chooses in Connections which actions stay on. Deleting datasets and sources starts turned off.
Frequently asked questions
Questions about Databox and Meteor
It sees the metrics of the sources connected in your Databox workspace, with the permissions of the user who authorized the connection.
Yes, if data loading is on: the Met creates the dataset if needed and loads the records. It is worth checking the load history to confirm they arrived.
Because "last month" depends on today's date. Databox includes a tool to get the current date and turn those expressions into an exact range.
You do, with your Databox account and plan. Met does not charge for the queries your Met makes to Databox.
