Research a competitor with Perplexity and save the report with sources in Notion

An AI agent researches a competitor with Perplexity, compares it with your criteria and saves the report with its sources in Notion.

How do I quickly build a competitor report with sources and keep it saved for the team?

You write to your Met on WhatsApp the competitor's name and what you want to know: prices, offer, recent news. The Met runs a web search to find their site and news, settles specific doubts with a quick question, asks for an in depth research with citations and, if you gave it criteria, reasons step by step about how they compare with your business. Then it finds your team's reports database in Notion and creates a page there with the summary, the comparison and each source's link. It sends you back on WhatsApp the short summary and the link to the page.

What starts it

When someone asks for it

It starts when someone on the team asks the Met to research a competitor or a supplier. Each report runs on request and spends Perplexity API credits.

A manual task: someone on the team runs it with a button, or asks the Met for it in chat.

Who runs it

Analytics Met that researches with sources

This is not a named, seeded Met. It is an internal Met with Perplexity and Notion connected: its work ends when the report with sources is in Notion and you get the summary, or when it tells you what it could not verify.

5 steps · 6 tools

The procedure, step by step

Each step shows the tool that runs. They belong to the real connector: if one of them stopped existing, this page would not build.

  1. 1

Find the competitor on the web

The Met searches the web for the competitor's name and keeps their site, social profiles and recent news, with each result's link to cite it later.

  2. 2

    Settle the specific doubts

For concrete facts, such as which cities they serve or whether they have a free plan, the Met asks quick questions with live search instead of asking for a full research.

  3. 3

Ask for the in depth research

The Met asks for an in depth research on the competitor's offer, published prices and positioning. It is the tool for complex topics and returns an analysis with citations.

  4. 4

    Compare them with your business

If you gave it criteria, such as price, coverage or delivery times, the Met reasons step by step about how the competitor compares with your business and makes clear where each point comes from.

  5. 5

    Save the report in Notion

The Met finds in Notion the reports database your team named and creates a page with the summary, the comparison and the source links. It sends you the short summary and the link on WhatsApp.

FAQ

Questions about this automation

Yes. Without the last step, the Met replies on WhatsApp with the summary and the sources. Saving it in Notion helps the team find it later.

Perplexity does not publish a fixed time. Search and the quick question are for specific facts; in depth research is for complex topics that need an analysis with citations.

Yes. The procedure is the same: you change the questions and the comparison criteria, for example delivery times or payment terms.
