Turn a product photo sent on WhatsApp into a marketing video with Runway

An AI agent turns the product photo you send on WhatsApp into a marketing video with Runway and sends it back to you in the chat.

How do I make a marketing video of my product from a photo, without editing, from WhatsApp?

Send your Met with Runway connected the product photo, or the link to its page in your store, and tell it the aspect ratio or duration you need. The Met checks how many credits you have left, uploads the photo to Runway if it came as a file and creates the product's marketing video. The generation becomes a task: the Met checks its status and sends you the video in the conversation once it is ready. If you need it in another aspect ratio, for example vertical for stories, it extends the frame. Every generation uses credits from your Runway plan, which is why generating starts switched off: the admin has to turn that action on in Connections.

What starts it

When someone asks for it

It starts when someone at the business sends the Met a product photo or link on WhatsApp and asks for the video. It does not run in the background: each video is a request and uses Runway credits.

A manual task: someone on the team runs it with a button, or asks the Met for it in chat.

Who runs it

Studio team

This is not a named, seeded Met. It is an internal Met with Runway connected: its work ends when the video reaches whoever asked for it, not when it is posted to social media.

6 steps · 8 tools

The procedure, step by step

Each step shows the tool that runs. They belong to the real connector: if one of them stopped existing, this page would not build.

  1. 1

Check the account and the credits

The Met confirms which Runway account is connected and checks your plan and the credits you have left. If they are not enough, it tells you before generating; buying credits happens on Runway's site, not from the chat.

  2. 2

Upload the photo if it came as a file

If the photo has a public address, it is used directly. If it came as a file, the Met starts the upload to Runway, sends the bytes, finishes the upload and keeps the asset address Runway returns.

  3. 3

    Create the product's marketing video

With the product photo or link, the Met asks Runway for the marketing video and keeps the conditions you gave, such as aspect ratio or duration; whatever you did not say stays at Runway's default. Runway replies with the task ID. This action starts switched off because it spends credits: the admin turns it on in Connections before the first video.

  4. 4

Wait for the result without pestering

The Met tells you the video is in progress and checks the task status every so often, without polling in a loop. When it finishes, it shares the video; if it fails, it tells you the reason Runway gives instead of retrying blindly.

  5. 5

Move it to another aspect ratio if needed

If the video came out horizontal and you want it vertical for stories, or the other way around, the Met extends the frame to the new aspect ratio from the video already generated. It is another generation, uses its own credits and also starts switched off until the admin turns it on.

  6. 6

    Find it later

If days later someone asks about that video, the Met lists your recent generations in Runway and shares the right one again, without generating it from scratch.

FAQ

Questions about this automation

Whatever Runway charges for that generation: it depends on the model, resolution and other settings, just like in the app. The Met can tell you how many you have left before generating.

Yes, with another action of the connector that translates an existing ad into another language. It is a separate generation, uses its own credits and also starts switched off.

Yes. Runway creates the marketing video from the product's link or image, so you can send either one.
