Optimizely and Meteor AI agents
Connect Optimizely to a Met: query projects, flags and experiments, summarize results and find the experiments that performed best.
How does Optimizely connect to Meteor?
With the Optimizely ready connector, your Met uses Optimizely Experimentation's official MCP server with the account the admin authorizes. On WhatsApp it tells you which experiments are running, how one experiment's result looks and which ones performed best among paused and concluded ones, with lift, significance, confidence intervals and visitors. It also searches the Feature Experimentation SDK documentation. Creating, changing and archiving flags, experiments and audiences starts switched off until the admin turns it on, because it changes live Optimizely data.
What it automates
What a Meteor Met does with Optimizely
Find out how an experiment is doing
You ask the Met on WhatsApp how the new checkout test is going. The Met finds the experiment, returns its result and sums it up with Optimizely's numbers.
Find what worked best
The Met returns the top performing experiments among paused and concluded ones, so the agency can show the client which changes won and which did not.
Pull your own slice of results
If you need one metric or one variation across several experiments at once, the Met runs a query on the results and returns lift, significance and visitors.
Check what is running
The Met queries your projects, flags, experiments and environments, and tells you what is active and how the configuration differs from one environment to another.
Create or change an experiment
The action starts switched off. If the admin turns it on, the Met gets the template with the required fields and creates or changes a flag, an experiment or an audience in Optimizely.
8 tools
Everything your Met can ask Optimizely for
Each one is a real action in the connector. You can switch off the ones you would rather it never used.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
exp_get_schemas | Returns the data schema of experimentation entities, such as projects, flags and experiments. |
exp_execute_query | Runs structured queries against your experimentation data. |
exp_summarize_test_result | Returns and analyzes the result of an experiment. |
exp_program_reporting_top_experiments | Shows the program's top performing experiments, among paused and concluded ones. |
exp_program_reporting_execute_query | Runs custom queries on results of paused, concluded and archived experiments. |
exp_search_fx_sdk_docs | Searches the Feature Experimentation SDK documentation, across supported languages. |
exp_manage_entity_lifecycle | Creates, updates and archives flags, experiments, audiences and other entities. Starts switched off. |
exp_get_entity_templates | Returns the templates and required fields to create or update an entity. |
The limits
What the Optimizely integration does NOT do
We would rather say it here than have you find out during rollout.
-
It does not change the code of Web Experimentation variations (custom HTML, CSS or JavaScript): that is done in Optimizely's visual editor.
-
It does not ask for confirmation in the chat before creating or changing an experiment. That action starts switched off; if the admin turns it on in Connections, the Met runs it on live data.
-
It sees no more than the account that authorized the connection: the same projects, experiments and data that account sees in Optimizely.
-
It does not give live results in the top experiments report: that tool is for paused and concluded experiments, not for the ones still running.
-
It does not work without Optimizely Agent Platform. The account needs it enabled and linked to a Feature or Web Experimentation instance.
Before you start
What you need to connect Optimizely
- 1
An Optimizely account with Agent Platform
An Opti ID and an Optimizely account with Agent Platform enabled and linked to at least one Feature Experimentation or Web Experimentation instance.
- 2
Connect it in Met
In Met, open Connections → Optimizely → Connect. An Optimizely window opens so you can sign in with your Opti ID and pick the Agent Platform instance.
- 3
Decide which actions stay on
The workspace admin reviews the list of actions. Creating, changing and archiving entities starts switched off.
Frequently asked questions
Questions about Optimizely and Meteor
It is Optimizely's single sign on, the same one you use across its products. If you already have an Optimizely account, you already have an Opti ID.
Only if the admin turns on the create and change entities action, which starts switched off. With it on, what the Met changes goes live in Optimizely.
Yes, to query and create experiments, campaigns and audiences. Code changes for each variation are still made in the visual editor.
You do, with your Optimizely account and contract. Meteor does not resell Optimizely: the connector uses your company's account.
