Geotab and Meteor AI agents
Connect MyGeotab to a WhatsApp Met: how many vehicles are active, where each one is, faults, trips and hours of service.
How do I ask on WhatsApp where my fleet is and how it is doing in MyGeotab?
With the Geotab ready connector, your Met queries your fleet's MyGeotab database with your own user and its permissions. It counts vehicles, reads each one's status, trips, faults, hours of service logs and zones, decodes VINs and asks Geotab Ace analytical questions, such as which drivers braked hardest this week. It also queues a report in Excel or PDF. Creating, changing or deleting records, dismissing faults and enrolling vehicles in emission programs start switched off, so out of the box the Met only reads. Access is included in the GO plan at no extra cost.
What it automates
What a Meteor Met does with Geotab
Know how many vehicles are active
When the owner or the operations lead asks on WhatsApp how the fleet is doing, the Met counts the vehicles, reads their status and answers how many are online and how many are not reporting.
Locate a vehicle
The Met checks the status of the vehicle it is asked about and answers with its last known location according to MyGeotab, so the team knows where a delivery is.
Check faults before a truck leaves
The Met pulls the active fault codes of a vehicle or of the whole fleet over the last few days and summarizes them for the shop. Dismissing faults starts switched off.
Ask Geotab Ace for an analysis
For open questions, such as which vehicles had the most speeding events this month, the Met passes them to Geotab Ace and answers with what Ace finds in your data.
14 tools
Everything your Met can ask Geotab for
Each one is a real action in the connector. You can switch off the ones you would rather it never used.

The limits
What the Geotab integration does NOT do
We would rather say it here than have you find out during rollout.
-
It does not write to MyGeotab out of the box: creating, changing and deleting records, dismissing faults and enrolling vehicles in emissions start switched off. The admin decides whether to turn them on.
-
It sees no more than your MyGeotab user. Everything runs with your identity and permissions, and the server returns no data your account is not authorized to view.
-
It does not delete vehicles, users, groups, fuel transactions, trailers, files or messages: Geotab blocks deleting those entities through the MCP.
-
It does not connect accounts that use SAML sign-in: it needs a user migrated to Geotab Unified Login.
-
It does not work with FedRAMP-authorized federal databases, according to Geotab.
Before you start
What you need to connect Geotab
- 1
A MyGeotab database on the GO plan
MCP access is included in the GO plan at no extra cost, according to Geotab. Your user needs the API access you plan to use.
- 2
A user on Unified Login
Most users can self-migrate from their MyGeotab profile: profile menu → Profile → enable Unified Login. SAML accounts need another account or a talk with Geotab.
- 3
Connect it in Met
In Met, open Connections → Geotab → Connect. The Geotab sign-in window opens so you can authorize Met. Then you choose which actions stay on.
Frequently asked questions
Questions about Geotab and Meteor
Not out of the box: creating, changing and deleting records start switched off. If the admin turns them on, the Met can, for example, create a zone; even then Geotab blocks deleting vehicles and users.
According to Geotab, it is included in the GO plan at no extra cost. The MyGeotab API request limits apply.
The most common reason is that your user is not migrated to Geotab Unified Login, or that your account uses SAML, which does not connect directly.
You do, with your own Geotab subscription. Meteor does not resell Geotab: the connector uses your company's database.
