Box and Meteor AI agents
Connect Box to a WhatsApp Met: search files, answer with what your documents say and share the right one, with Box's official MCP server.
How does Box connect to Meteor?
With the Box ready connector, your WhatsApp Met works with the files your company keeps in Box, using the permissions of the person who connects. It gives the Met 26 tools: it searches files and folders, reads their content and details, asks Box AI about one or several documents and pulls data out of them, comments, creates folders and uploads files. If the Box admin enables it, it also shares a file by link and generates documents from a template. To connect it, the Box admin registers the redirect URL Met shows and pastes the Client ID and the Client Secret into Met. Usage runs on your Box plan.
What it automates
What a Meteor Met does with Box
Send the right document on WhatsApp
When a customer asks for the spec sheet, the catalog or the contract, the Met finds the file in Box, checks its details to confirm it is the right version and, if the Box admin enabled shared links, sends them the link.
Answer with what a document says
If the customer asks about a term, a measurement or a warranty, the Met asks Box AI about the manual, the spec sheet or the hub where the answer lives and replies with that, citing the document when a citation is available.
Pull data from a stored document
From a quote or an order stored in Box, the Met pulls the fields you ask for, such as the date, the total or the document number, without anyone copying them by hand.
Organize each customer's folder
The Met creates a new customer's folder, uploads a new file there and leaves a comment on the file so the team member in charge sees it in Box.
26 tools
Everything your Met can ask Box for
Each one is a real action in the connector. You can switch off the ones you would rather it never used.

The limits
What the Box integration does NOT do
We would rather say it here than have you find out during rollout.
-
It does not ask for confirmation in the chat before writing to Box. No action starts switched off in Met: the admin chooses in Connections which ones stay on. Separately, Box keeps shared links and batch document generation off on its side.
-
It sees no more than what the connecting person can already view or edit in Box. The scopes the Box admin picks are the ceiling, not extra access.
-
It does not delete files or folders: the Box server has no action for that.
-
Box AI reads up to 1 MB of text from each file. If the document is longer, the answer comes only from the first 1 MB.
-
It does not download or upload files through a temporary link: those two actions are left out of this page because Box says they only work in code-executing environments.
-
Generating documents with Doc Gen needs a Box Enterprise Advanced license, on top of the Box admin enabling that action.
Before you start
What you need to connect Box
- 1
Box MCP server integration credentials
The Box admin opens the Admin Console, goes to Integrations, finds Box MCP server and clicks Configure. Under Additional Configuration they add integration credentials (Add Integration Credentials), register the redirect URL Met shows as the Redirect URI, pick the Access Scopes and copy the Client ID and the Client Secret Box generates.
- 2
Connect Box in Met
In Met, open Connections → Box → Connect, paste the Client ID and the Client Secret and tap Connect. The Box window opens so you sign in and authorize Met. Then you choose which actions stay on.
- 3
Enable in Box the actions that come off
If you want the Met to share files by link or generate documents in batches, the Box admin turns those tools on in the Box MCP server's tool access controls.
- 4
Enterprise Advanced license for Doc Gen
Only needed if you will generate documents from templates: the server's Doc Gen permission needs a Box Enterprise Advanced license.
Frequently asked questions
Questions about Box and Meteor
Because Met cannot register itself with Box. The Box admin creates the Box MCP server credentials in the Admin Console, registers the redirect URL Met shows and pastes the Client ID and the Client Secret Box generates into Met.
Yes, if the Box admin enables shared links, which come off in Box. That link can be open, so it is worth checking which folders the connected account can see.
Box AI processes up to 1 MB of text per file. If the document is longer, it only reads the first 1 MB, so a very long manual is better split into several files.
You do, with your own Box plan. Meteor does not resell Box: the connector uses your company's account and what your Box plan and license allow.
