Asana and Meteor AI agents
Connect Asana to a WhatsApp Met: search tasks and projects, create tasks with an owner, comment and post status updates through Asana's official MCP.
How does Asana connect to Meteor?
With the Asana ready connector, your WhatsApp Met works on an Asana workspace with the account the admin authorizes. It searches tasks, projects, portfolios, goals and people, opens a task with its subtasks and comments and answers how a job is going. If you turn it on, it also creates tasks, up to 50 per call, updates them, leaves comments and posts a status update on a project. It is Asana's official server: usage runs on your Asana account and plan, and deleting a task starts switched off because it cannot be undone.
What it automates
What a Meteor Met does with Asana
Move the customer's request into a project
If you turn it on, when a customer asks for a job your Met creates the task in your team's project, with the details of the conversation, the owner and the agreed due date.
Answer how the job is going
When the person asks, the Met opens their task, reads whether it is complete, who owns it and the team's latest comment, and answers with that.
Leave the context in a comment
The Met adds a comment to the task with whatever new the customer said, so the owner reads it in Asana without hunting for the chat.
Report how the projects are going
For whoever runs the team, the Met asks Asana for a status report on the projects or the portfolio and summarizes what is late and what is on track.
24 tools
Everything your Met can ask Asana for
Each one is a real action in the connector. You can switch off the ones you would rather it never used.

The limits
What the Asana integration does NOT do
We would rather say it here than have you find out during rollout.
-
It does not ask for confirmation in the chat before writing to Asana. The admin chooses in Connections which actions stay on; deleting a task starts switched off.
-
It does not work across two workspaces at once: authorization covers one Asana workspace, and another workspace needs its own connection.
-
Advanced task search needs an Asana Premium account. Without that plan, the Met lists tasks by project, section, tag or assignee.
-
It does not undo a deletion: delete_task removes the task and its exclusive subtasks for good.
-
It has no dedicated tool for goals: it finds them through general search, but it does not create or edit them.
-
It sees no more than the account that authorized the connection, and usage runs on your Asana account and plan.
Before you start
What you need to connect Asana
- 1
An Asana account in the right workspace
Connect with an Asana user who can see the projects the Met will use. When authorizing you choose the workspace; advanced task search needs that workspace to be on a Premium plan.
- 2
Connect it in Met
In Met, open Connections → Asana → Connect. An Asana window opens so you can sign in, choose the workspace and authorize Met. Then you choose which actions stay on.
Frequently asked questions
Questions about Asana and Meteor
Yes, if the admin leaves task creation on: Asana creates them immediately. If you would rather have a person review first, leave that action off and use the Met only to look up and comment.
Yes. It can look the person up by email or name in the workspace and set their ID as the assignee when creating or updating the task.
Only for advanced task search. Everything else works with the permissions of the account you connect, within what your Asana plan allows.
No. Asana issues the authorization only for its MCP server and for one workspace; its REST API needs a separate app and authorization.
