Get your Basecamp projects' weekly recap on WhatsApp every Friday

An AI agent reads your Basecamp projects every Friday and sends you on WhatsApp what got done, what is overdue, what has no owner and what is next.

How do I get a weekly recap of my Basecamp projects on WhatsApp without opening it?

Schedule a weekly task for a Met with Basecamp connected. Every Friday, the Met asks for the account's recap of the last seven days, looks across all projects for overdue or unassigned to-dos and overdue cards, checks next week's schedule and reads the activity of the two or three projects that moved the most. Then it sends you a short WhatsApp message in four parts: done, moved, still open and coming up, with a link to each item. It only reads: it does not create or change anything in Basecamp, and it tells you what it could not cover.

What starts it

At a set time

A task with a weekly recurring trigger, on Friday afternoon, so the recap arrives before the week closes. Each run queries Basecamp with the account that authorized the connection.

A task on a recurring (cron) or date and time trigger. It runs on its own, with nobody logged in.

Who runs it

Operations Met that recaps Basecamp every week

This is not a named, seeded Met. It is an internal Met with Basecamp connected: its work ends when the recap reaches whoever runs the projects, not when the to-dos get resolved.

6 steps · 7 tools

The procedure, step by step

Each step shows the tool that runs. They belong to the real connector: if one of them stopped existing, this page would not build.

  1. 1

Find out whose account it is

The Met asks Basecamp who authorized the connection and which account it works in. It needs that to tell that person's work apart from the rest of the team's, and to name the account if you have more than one.

  2. 2

Ask for the recap of the last seven days

The Met asks for the recap of the last seven days: announcements, assigned and completed to-dos, overdue to-dos and activity by project. That recap reaches back 14 days at most, so a full week fits.

  3. 3

Find what is overdue and what has no owner

The Met looks across all projects for overdue to-dos and to-dos with no owner, and for overdue cards. That is what matters most on a Friday, because it is what sits still when nobody claims it.

  4. 4

Check what is coming up next week

The Met checks the schedule from Monday through the following Friday. This query covers the whole account and includes the occurrences of recurring events, so a weekly meeting shows up on its real date.

  5. 5

Read what moved in the busiest projects

For the two or three projects with the most activity in the recap, the Met reads their recent activity to say what changed, not just how much. That activity goes back to each project's latest 100 events; if it does not cover the week, the message says so.

  6. 6

Send you the recap with its links

The Met opens the to-dos it will mention to get their links and sends you the message on WhatsApp in four parts: done, moved, open and coming up. It ends by saying which parts it could not cover, instead of presenting the recap as complete.

FAQ

Questions about this automation

Yes. The day is part of the scheduled task, and the recap can cover up to 14 days. Beyond that, Basecamp does not return it in a single query.

What is overdue, unassigned and coming up comes from every project the connected account can see. What got done comes from that account's recap, so it is best to connect with whoever runs the projects.

No. Every tool in this procedure reads. You can connect Basecamp with read-only access and the procedure works the same.
