Dropbox and Meteor AI agents
Connect Dropbox to a WhatsApp Met: search files, share links, create folders and request documents from customers with the official MCP server.
How does Dropbox connect to Meteor?
With the Dropbox ready connector, your Met works on the Dropbox account the admin authorizes. It searches files and folders, lists what is in a folder, creates folders and text files, copies and moves, and shares a link or a single-use download link in the WhatsApp conversation. It also creates file requests so a customer can upload their documents to the folder you choose without getting into your Dropbox. It is Dropbox's official server, in open beta: usage runs on your Dropbox plan, and delete starts switched off until the admin turns it on.
What it automates
What a Meteor Met does with Dropbox
Receive a customer's documents without opening your Dropbox
The Met creates a file request pointing to that customer's folder and shares the link on WhatsApp. The customer uploads their ID, tax form or receipts there, and your folder stays as private as before.
Share a file that already lives in Dropbox
When a customer asks for the catalog, the spec sheet or the contract, the Met finds the file and shares a shared link, or a temporary download link that works only once.
Organize what comes in
The Met creates the customer's folder, copies or moves files into place and, if the operation is large and runs in the background, checks its status until it finishes.
Leave a note in the customer's folder
When the conversation closes, the Met creates a text file in the customer's folder with what they asked for and what is still pending, so your team finds it next to their documents.
17 tools
Everything your Met can ask Dropbox for
Each one is a real action in the connector. You can switch off the ones you would rather it never used.

The limits
What the Dropbox integration does NOT do
We would rather say it here than have you find out during rollout.
-
It does not ask for confirmation in the chat before creating, moving or sharing. The admin chooses in Connections which actions stay on; delete starts switched off.
-
It does not delete for good: delete sends the file to Deleted files, and how long it can be restored depends on your Dropbox plan.
-
This page does not promise reading a file's content, transcribing it or restoring versions: Dropbox's help mentions those tools without a confirmed identifier.
-
It does not send documents for signature or work with Paper from this page: Dropbox's help names Dropbox Sign and Paper, but does not give the names of their tools.
-
It does not create photos or PDFs from the chat: creating a file is only UTF-8 text of up to 5 MB. To receive files from a customer, use a file request.
-
It does not bring huge folders at once: it lists up to 100 items per call. The server is in open beta, and the admin of a Dropbox team can restrict connecting apps.
Before you start
What you need to connect Dropbox
- 1
A Dropbox account with access to the folders the Met will use
Connect with an account that can see the folders the Met needs, because the connector works with that account's permissions. If it is a team account, its admin may have restricted connecting apps.
- 2
A Dropbox app with its App key and App secret
In the Dropbox App Console, create an app with «Scoped» and «Full Dropbox» access, turn on the files, sharing, account and file request permissions, and add the redirect URL Met shows you. Dropbox asks every client outside its trusted client list to do this.
- 3
Connect it in Met
In Met, open Connections → Dropbox, paste the App key and App secret and tap Connect. A Dropbox window opens so you can sign in and authorize Met. Then you choose which actions stay on.
Frequently asked questions
Questions about Dropbox and Meteor
It shares a link in the conversation: a shared link or a temporary download link that works only once. The file stays in your Dropbox, not in Meteor.
Only if the admin turns that action on, because it starts switched off. Even when it is on, delete sends the file to Deleted files, where it can be restored according to your Dropbox plan.
With a file request: the Met creates it on the folder you choose and sends the customer the link. The customer uploads their files there without seeing the rest of your Dropbox.
You do, with your Dropbox plan. Meteor does not resell Dropbox: the connector uses your company's account and follows the limits Dropbox sets for that account.
