Buy the Shippo label for a paid Shopify order

Automation where an AI agent takes paid Shopify orders, buys the label with the best Shippo rate and leaves the tracking in Shopify.

How do I get the Shippo label for each Shopify order without copying addresses by hand?

A scheduled task reviews the paid and unfulfilled orders in Shopify. For each one, the Met reads the address and products, validates the address in Shippo, creates the shipment with the package weight and dimensions and compares the rates of the connected carriers. It buys the label for the rate your rules choose and records the fulfillment in Shopify with the tracking number and carrier, so the buyer gets the Shopify notice. Buying labels spends balance from your Shippo account, so the admin decides whether writing stays on.

Where it applies: United States. Shippo ships mostly from the United States. From other countries it only covers the carriers its help center lists for that origin, or DHL Express, FedEx and UPS.

What starts it

At a set time

A task with a recurring trigger that runs every so often on paid and unfulfilled orders. It is scheduled this way because the orders live in Shopify, not in Met: someone has to go look.

A task on a recurring (cron) or date and time trigger. It runs on its own, with nobody logged in.

Who runs it

Store shipping Met

It is an internal Met: it does not talk to buyers, it works for whoever ships. It needs the store and the shipping platform at the same time, which is exactly where mistakes slip in when copying an address from one tab to another.

The procedure, step by step

Each step shows the tool that runs. They belong to the real connector: if one of them stopped existing, this page would not build.

  1. 1

Bring the paid orders not yet shipped

The Met lists the Shopify orders with confirmed payment and pending fulfillment, and opens each one to read the shipping address, products and quantities that go in the package.

  2. 2

Find the Shippo operations it will use

Since Shippo's MCP is a gateway to its API, the Met lists the available operations and reads the parameters of the address validation, shipment and label purchase ones before calling them.

  3. 3

    Validate the address and quote

The Met validates the buyer's address in Shippo, creates the shipment with the weight and dimensions your instructions set for those products, and compares the rates and times of each connected carrier.

  4. 4

Buy the label for the chosen rate

With the rule you set, for example the cheapest one that arrives in three days, the Met buys the label in Shippo and gets the tracking number and the label to print. This step only happens if Shippo writing is on.

  5. 5

    Record the fulfillment in Shopify

The Met records the order fulfillment in Shopify with the tracking number and carrier Shippo returned. By default Shopify notifies the buyer, so they hear about it through the same channel where they bought.

Questions about this automation

Yes, if that is the rule you give it. The Met compares the rates Shippo returns and buys the one that meets your price and time rule.

Yes. When the fulfillment is recorded with tracking, Shopify sends its notice by default. The Met does not send a separate message.

Shippo flags it as invalid and the Met does not buy the label for that order: it leaves a note so your team confirms the address with the buyer.

Your Shippo account, with the rates of your plan or of the carrier accounts you connected. Met does not charge for the calls to Shippo.
